Photo by Kathryn Riley/Getty Images Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets Good morning, Gang Green Nation. I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. Shout out to Mr. Wells for holding down the fort over the weekend as usual. There aren’t many links in today’s FC - as most of you are aware the cycle to start the week is typically slow. However, we did get a chance to see New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers taking another step in his Achilles recovery. Over the weekend Rodgers was spotted doing staircase training for his endurance - as well as allowing his heel to get exercised and back up to speed in the process. It seemed like Rodgers worked himself until exhaustion, which is something we love to see as he takes another step in returning as the team’s starting quarterback, something the Jets and their fans desperately need. Hopefully we get to see a full season with Rodgers under center this year. But until then, here are your links to the Jets to start your morning. Photo by Cole Burston/Getty Images The Yankees’ road trip heads north of the border. When a team starts the year 12-3, it can feel a bit spoiled to say they should be 13-3 rather than 12-4. The latter is still really good! But when it’s the result of a very annoying-yet-winnable game in Cleveland ... yeah that’s a bummer. Even with the zombie runner, two-run leads in the 10th should be held. That didn’t happen, as shoddy infield defense reared its ugly head again, specifically from Gleyber Torres. Whatever. Put it behind you, move on to Toronto, and win there to fully forget about it. Today on the site, David will preview this upcoming series against the Blue Jays, Jake will tackle the Rivalry Roundup, and John will present the latest edition of the 1999 Yankees Dairy. Later on, Peter will use pitch modeling grade jumps to research the Yankee pitchers who have thrived since entering the Matt Blake Academy (as it were), while Madison will issue her latest mailbag prompt. Today’s Matchup: New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays Time: 7:07 p.m. ET TV: YES Network, SportsNet Radio: WFAN 660/101.9 FM Venue: Rogers Centre, Toronto, ON Questions/Prompts: 1. Would you be up for benching Gleyber Torres for a game or two to see if the time off helps snap him out of his funk on both sides of the ball? 2. Flipping the classic question on its head, whose start to 2024 has surprised you the least?

Photo by Jason Miller/Getty Images Soto, Judge accomplish feat not done since 1970; Yankees, Padres talked 17 different nameswhile negotiating offseason deal; Poteet surprised nobody in-house Sports Illustrated | Brady Farkas: Heading into action yesterday, Yankees outfielders Aaron Judge and Juan Soto led the American League in walks, with 15 and 14 respectively. In the process, they became the first pair of Yankees teammates to work 14 or more walks in the team’s first 15 games since Thurman Munson and Roy White accomplished the feat in 1970 — more than 50 years ago. Their ability to get on base at the top of the lineup has been a major reason for the Yankees’ early success so far this season, even as Judge himself has struggled to find his power stroke (that is, before he drilled a 450-foot homer in yesterday’s game). MLB Trade Rumors | Mark Polishuk: Speaking of Soto, Jon Heyman revealed over the weekend that the Yankees and Padres discussed a whopping 17 different Yankees players while negotiating the blockbuster deal that brought the superstar right fielder to the Bronx. In addition to the quartet of pitchers and backup catcher Kyle Higashioka, the Padres inquired about Clarke Schmidt, Chase Hampton, Spencer Jones, Roderick Arias, and George Lombard Jr. at various points. NJ.com | Max Goodman: Yankees spot starter Cody Poteet shocked the baseball world with his six innings of one-run ball against the Cleveland Guardians during the nightcap of Saturday’s doubleheader. The New York coaching staff, however, were not surprised after watching him perform in spring training. Even so, considering he was on an 80-pitch limit, the fact that he provided length to a bullpen that was in desperate need of rest was a major win for the Yankees. Although he reverted back to Triple-A Scranton after the outing, the Yankees are confident that, when called upon again, he’ll be more than ready to answer. Congratulations to 1996 and 2000 Yankees World Series champion Dwight Gooden, who had his No. 16 retired by his much more closely-connected franchise, the Mets. He mentioned playing on those Yankees teams during his remarks at Citi Field — in relation to the Mets turning him down for contracts despite his wishes — and perhaps unsurprisingly received some joking boos. Ah, Mets fans. Lastly, if you missed it, please enjoy whatever the heck this delivery was from Nestor Cortes on one pitch yesterday.
